Whiskey Creek Insurance LLC is an independent agency founded by the team at Whiskey Creek Inc., a vertically integrated, fifth-generation family farming operation based in Woodbury County, Iowa. As a certified insurance agency and as purchasers of insurance for our own operations, we have the first-hand knowledge and expertise to help other growers select insurance products that protect against risk and deliver peace of mind.


Brian Peterson


Brian Peterson is president of parent company Whiskey Creek Inc., where he has led operations since 1984. Brian also is a director and audit committee member on the board of trustees of Omaha-based Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc., for which he served as executive vice president in charge of site development from 2005 through 2008. He earned a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business from Dordt College.

Daniel Peterson

Chief Financial Officer

Daniel Peterson is a certified TWI insurance agent for Whiskey Creek Insurance LLC and is chief financial officer for Whiskey Creek Inc. He is licensed to sell insurance in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska and Arkansas. Before joining the family business in 2008, he served as plant controller and as financial manager at Wells Dairy Inc. in Le Mars, Iowa. He previously held several positions at Gateway Companies, Inc., in North Sioux City, S.D., including financial analyst, accountant and operations finance manager. Daniel earned a B.A. degree in accounting, management and finance from Northwestern College and an MBA degree from the University of South Dakota.

John Leonard

Agency Manager

John Leonard is the agency manager for Whiskey Creek Insurance. John has been in the insurance business since 1986 and operated his own agency and spent many years as an independent contractor, agent, and consultant with Farm Bureau Financial Services. He specialized in helping agricultural, business and personal lines clients. He is licensed in all lines of insurance to work with clients in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Arkansas and Arizona. John is currently an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors. He spent several years as a member of the LeMars city council and Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council. John studied at Illinois State University and the American College of Financial Services.

Paul Hansen

Insurance Agent

Paul Hansen is a certified TWI insurance agent for Whiskey Creek Insurance LLC and treasurer for Whiskey Creek Inc. He is licensed to sell insurance in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska and Arkansas. Before joining Whiskey Creek, he served as marketing director and retail banking officer at Liberty National Bank and as vice president at Pinnacle Bank, both in Sioux City, Iowa. He previously held a number of positions at Mercy Medical Services in Sioux City, including chief financial officer, physician office coordinator and financial systems coordinator. He began his career at Toy National Bank in Sioux City. Paul has a B.A. degree in business and economics from Westmar University, an MBA degree from the University of South Dakota and a diploma from the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.

Michelle Kluver

Insurance Agent

Michelle Kluver is an insurance agent with Whiskey Creek Insurance LLC. She is licensed to sell Total Weather Insurance, as well as personal lines and crop insurance in Iowa and South Dakota. Michelle previously worked for another independent insurance agency.

Karina Fast

Marketing Representative

Karina joined the team at Whiskey Creek as a marketing representative. She grew up on a dairy and crop farm in southwestern Minnesota and graduated from Dordt College with a degree in Agricultural Business. Karina is licensed in crop, property, casualty, life, and health insurance.

Tyler Brady

Insurance Agent

Tyler Brady is an independent sales agent with Whiskey Creek Insurance. A native of Marcus, Iowa, Tyler graduated from South Dakota State University with a double major in agricultural business and agriculture systems technology. Tyler grew up on a farm and has worked as an agronomist which has given him practical experience in the agriculture industry.
